Couple of weight loss questions, any answers?

I'm looking to lose about 45 pounds, starting this summer. I've heard that I should drink .7oz of water per pounds that I weight, which would be 122.5 oz (about 4 nalgenes worth). Also, I should be taking 1 gram of protein every pound that I weigh, but my concern in that how I'll be able to get this. I don't eat much protein-containing food, so is there some type of supplement I could take. I'm taking Omega 3's as well, if that matters. My goal here is go from a 13-year old, 5'8", 175 pound beast to a muscular and lean 13 year old, hopefully around 130lbs. Mainly, I want to gain muscle around my pecs, chest, stomach, hips, thighs and calves, as that's where most of my weight shows. I'm going to start going to the gym, running about 2 miles every time, in order to improve my time and of course, weight. What kind of food regimen should I use, including lunch at school?

  1. Eat lots of milk products,sweets, ....
  2. first off, given that you're only 13, you will probably grow some more and fill into your weight. its awesome that you want to get healthy tho. Meat, eggs, and milk are all good sources of protein, i dont recommend supplements, theyre usually just a waste of money. to build up your pecs, bench/incline bench, pushups, and butterflys are good to tone your stomach sit-ups, leg raises, v-ups are all pretty basic hips/thighs-squats, running calves-calf raises, running for food, stay away from added sugars, dont beat yourslef up over having some, but try to satisfy your sweet tooth with fruit or some other natural sugar. wheat bread is easier for your body to break down than white bread, so you wont store as much of it as fat. maintain a good balance of meats, carbs, and fruits/vegetables in your diet, dont do those diets where they cut out entire food groups, its bad for your body, especialy while you're still growing. and drink lots of water, keeping yourself hydrating makes all your body's systems work more effieciently
  3. You need to change your diet to include more protein. If you don't, your body will break down your muscles to make up for calorie deficits that you are creating by the extra exercise. Also, eat whole grains and fiber rich food. It will help keep you feeling full longer.
