Weight Loss & Exercise Questions???????

Hi, I have a female hormone problem called PCOS and it causes weight gain, and alot of my being over weight is a lack of self control and exercise.I have been dieting since New Years as part of my resolution and I started out at 225 pounds and as of the 25th I was 211. Well this morning I went to weigh in and I was 214. And I changed Nothing, Even started exercising for 30 minutes twice a day. I am eating an average of 1500 calories a day. why have I gained weight??? And my last question is this, My Body shape is Very weird. I carry most of my weight through my back and my belly... And for a woman it isn't very appealing. But that is part of The PCOS also. What types of exercises can i do to reduce the mass through my back, I do not want to turn all that to muscle and look like a body builder.. I am REALLY concerned... Someone please help me... I want to be toned, but yet have a feminan body too...

  1. First, if you increase your excercise but still eat the same as you were before you can gain weight because your body goes into startvation body. Secondly, be sure that you are eating healthy fats (nuts, fish...), because they help keep fat from being stores around the tummy area. Also, talk to your doctor sometimes they can help regulate the hormones making it easier to loose. It sounds like you have made great progress in a short amount of time. Keep up the good work!
  2. Well there are plenty of exercises you can do to tone your back and belly. My best advice is to join a gym. They have plenty of exercise machines that will work out every part of your body. Eat plenty of protein. You should be eating 3 meals a day and 3 small but healthy snacks between each meal. Protein shakes are excellent. Myoplex contains 42 grams of protein. I work out 2 days a week and jog the trail the other 2 days along with eating health meals. Believe me you will feel great and more energized. Good Luck :) Let me know if you need help figuring out some meal plans.
  3. I also have PCOS and have been eating low carb and excercising since Jan. 2, 2008. Well, your body will platue every once in a while. You probably lost really fast the first few weeks and most of it was water weight plus the change in your eating. Try and tweek your diet a little either eating more or less calories so that your body gets out of the plateu. Also, muscle weighs more that fat. Don't give up and keep doing what you are doing. If you go to the gym your will find machines that tell you which part of your body you are working out. Try to find one that targets the parts you want to loose weight on. Remember, it takes time a long time to get all your weight off. Give yourself a good year to be where you want to be.
  4. have you look into CARDIOKE? its a workout where you dance and sing at the same time! Billy Blanks Jr. Came up with the idea! I just got the dvd and I love how i work out my whole body! they have some cool songs too!
