No One Answered It Yesterday, Maybe Someone Can Today. Exercising for Weight Loss, Questions!!?

Well, i know about eating right, and drinking water so I don't need any advice on that (unless you just want to give me extra tips) I'm 20, 5'7, 220lbs.. I don't have any stamina really so I'm trying to build stamina, I've only been to the gym a couple times because I get sooo tired sooo quick when I go, like within 10 minutes and it's embaressing. So what exercises can I do at the gym to get me a workout and to increase stamina Do I have to lift weights at the gym? Please, I just need advice on what to do at the gym. I want to lose 80lbs, how long will that take, roughly? How soon do you think I will FEEL the difference in working out and eating healthy? how soon do you think I'll SEE any difference in weight loss?

  1. get a personal trainer that you are comfortable with. he/she will help you with a cardio/weight lifting program that will fit you specific issues. its worth the money. my job actually reimburses me for going to the gym...great benefit and motivator
  2. Well there is plenty you can do at the gym for example get on the treadmill, but instead of using at a fast pace ,use at steady and dont jog,walk....Also for 10-15 mins lift 5lbs dumbbells for your arms. Also before anything always drink water when you feel like you cant breathe, that helps your body get hydrated..If they have aerobic class at the gym,try at your own pace, remember everything is about you, your body,no one else knows your body but you so if you feel like you need a rest, take it without hesitating
  3. Stamina is something that you build over time. Don't over exert yourself. Start slowly and increase intensity/speed/resistance over time as you become more comfortable. If you feel like you're about to collapse, just go at a slower pace, even if it's a lot slower. Pushing yourself very hard and then abruptly stopping is dangerous. As for how long losing 80 pounds will take, that depends. Think about how long it took for you to put on that weight. A healthy goal is one to two pounds per week. If you are doing things right, you will be able to feel results pretty quickly in energy level, even mood. It may take a little while to see results. Please don't be discouraged, weight loss is a slow process. But the end results are worth it, trust me. best of luck to you!
  4. When you are first starting out at the gym you need to take it easy as you are at risk of injury if you try to do to much. So you will need to do both cardio and strength training to get to your goal weight as well as eat well. You need to be doing exercise that will be equivalent or greater then the amount of calories you are taking in each day or otherwise there will be no weight loss. Try to start with 3 or 4 cardio sessions a week but that it means bikes, treadmills anything that will get your heart rate going. Then 2 strength sessions a week these are weight activities. If you feel uncomfortable about lifting weights at the gym there are a number of items that you can use around the house. You need to increase your workout time each week and need to eventually be doing at least 45 mins a day for weight loss. Give yourself a month of following a healthy diet and exercising and then once your body starts to become immune to this you will see the weight loss. As to how long I can't say as everyone has different weight loss in different times. Hope this helps!!!
  5. I used to be the same way. Whenever I got on my treadmill, I would quit after 10 minutes. I also used to watch the clock and timer, which made time go by even slower. It really helped to distract myself, while I'm working out. I would bring my iPod and listen to a few songs. Instead of thinking I'll run for 20 minutes, I would tell myself I'll stop after I listen to 5 songs (trick your mind!). Time goes by a lot quicker when you're not thinking about the actual exercise imo. Make sure you start out slow. For the first few days run for 10 minutes. Then make it 15, then 20, and so on. You don't need a music player either. Just keep your mind off the exercise. Think about what you're going to do during the day, where you're going to go, daydream a little! Lifting weights would be good too! You'll gain muscles in your legs and arms, which will make them look smaller in the end! Good luck! (: I'm trying to lose a few pounds myself.
