Questions about weight loss re: cellulite and belly fat?

I am losing weight but my bum area still has a lot of cellulite. How do I get rid of that? Will weight loss alone take care of it or do I have to do something more specific to target this problem? Also, I have a lot of belly fat and as I lose it is not flattening. How do I reduce my round tummy?

  1. I am no expert in cellulite. But I can point you to a great website on losing belly fat, the right way: http://www.flatstomachsecret.com/ There are lots of myths on this subject & this site goes over them. I would encourage you to take a look. Good luck!!
  2. You can't spot reduce fat, but losing the weight is a huge step in the right direction. As for losing the cellulite, you should be adding weight training to your exercise routine. Strengthening the muscles under the fat will help to smooth it out. For your stomach, you could be retaining water if you intake a lot of sodium. Try cutting back on the salt for a few days and see if that helps a little. Ali
  3. Unfortunately weight is lost all over and can't be targeted. You also may be left with stubborn areas that are hard to get rid of. Cellulite itself will not necessarily go away with weight loss. It is the result of the interaction between the adipose layer, fat, and the skin above. Even if you lose weight the dimples may still be there because the skin is literally stuck to the fat in those places. There are supposed methods of un-adhering the skin, but I'm not sure how well they work. I think if you are losing ht weight in a safe and sane manner, not too fast, that the skin will rectify itself as much as it can on its own. If you reach your target weight and still have that problem then other methods can be employed. The best range to lose weight in is 1 to 2.5 lbs a week. This will allow your body to accustom itself to the loss and the skin to regain its prestretched stage. Losing weight too quickly will cause the skin of abdomen, chest and inner thighs to sag, possibly dramatically. I don’t personally believe in any of the fad diets that keep showing up. I think that they put your body into an unhealthy famine mode which will cause you to gain the fat right back if you start to eat normally again. The best idea is to eliminate all junk food. You can do a cheat day if you need to but don’t go overboard. Eat balanced meals of reasonable size. Overeating will cause your stomach to be too large and you will still feel hungry when you’re not. Also have lots of healthy snacks during the day. Ideally you’ll want to eat 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day. Carry food with you so you aren’t tempted to eat unhealthily when you’re out of the house. And don’t buy unhealthy foods. Get foods that are low in bad fats—we do need fat to survive but not saturated fat. Minimize the processed flours and sugars, no white bread, no sugar. Choose leaner meats and protein sources. Don’t expect to eat pizza and burritos all the time and lose weight. And eat tons of vegetables. Eat salads, steamed vegetables and raw vegetables too. You can’t eat so much celery that you’ll get fat. Don’t eat too much fruit or things containing high fructose corn syrup. The reason is that fructose is hard on the liver because it can only be metabolized there. You can eat fruit during or after a workout. Don’t eat late at night because your body will turn it into fat. Eat a smaller amount of calories than needed to maintain your weight. You have burn more than you intake. Always exercise. Cardio especially, but weights are good too. Don’t give up. You’ll be glad you chose to lose the weight.
  4. Nothing can do you good better than exercise and healthy eating. Walk up hill, or jog, or use the elliptical trainer; do 30 minutes or more a few days a week. and Eat healthy; belly fat or thighs or hips comes from deep fried foods, too many sugary foods - so just moderate and dont deprive yourself from anything. Lastly, situps or crunches - in order to target lower part of your belly, u need most exercises with leg raising. so do crunches 50-100 before you go to bed and right when u wake up! I used to hate crunches but honestly its the best before bed and right when u get up. Also if you're able to lift weights, do it !!- remember you cant just lose fat from one part of your body. So by lifting weights, light weights 3 sets of 12 - ull burn more fat and build a litttle muscle - but more muscle faster fat burn and faster metabolism. and so is the case with Cardio - you speed up your metabolism up to the next 24 hours. s4m
