Weight Loss? Questions inside (more than 1)?

I'm 13 years old and 6'3 feet &inches I weigh about 248 pounds at my last weigh in. I know I need to lose weight and Im quite aware of my situation. I've been working on it since November. Ok here's my question.. I work out 5-7 times a week each day burning 2200 calories + or - 100-200 calories depending. What I want to know is...can extensive workouts like cardio kickboxing & weightlifting (Moderate weightlifting) prevent true weightloss and fill in my fat weight with muscle mass? I've been wondering this for a while now because my weight has been fluctuating (although I was 260 in November) around 250 lbs or so. I just wanted to know if my question is possible.. and also I have another question here.. How long does it take for a teen like me to adapt to moderate exercise like this? My average life is sedentary and I dont do much.. Misc Info: Caloric Needs (websites): 2200 calories a day BMI-- electronic scale dont know accuracy: 33% Weight Target:200-210lb diet:1200 calories daily Also-- workouts are: 1 hour a piece of cardio kickboxing-1200 calories burned or 1 hour a piece of- A mix of Calisthenics + Cardio / Jogging -- 1200 calories I eat primary balanced meals.. but maybe I should add another plausible question to this Am I eating enough?!? Maybe my metabolism is slowign down because I eat 1200 calories a day. I'm not quite so sure..

  1. your question is a little confusing, but i think you might be confused yourself. your fat can't physically turn into muscle. when you work out, your body will burn the fat off. when you weight train, your muscles will get more toned. you will lose weight and gain muscle at the same time, but your body will look better and you will be in better shape because you will be losing all the excess fat. as for how long it will take you to adapt...i think only you can figure that out. just make sure you increase duration of workouts before you increase intensity. also, you burn btwn 2000-3500 calories per day just sitting...heartbeat, blinking, etc. w/o working out. and there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. just some extra info if you were curious. i don't know if this answers your question, but i hope it helps. best of luck toward reaching your goal!
  2. You are way too big to be on a 1200 calorie diet. And if your exercising as much as you say you are then your going to lose weight. Just eat 2-3 hours a day, small meals to speed up your metabolism. Don't worry about your weight also. There are guys who are 300 pounds and cut. Worry about your body fat percentage. That is all that is important. Weightlifting will help to lower your fat percentage.

  4. First of all, it sounds like your excercise is pretty intense. You are probably burning way more than 2200 calories a day, so 1200 is definately not enough intake to keep you going. You will not lose weight because you are not eating enough for your body to funtion properly, especially at your age. When you eat so little, your body adapts and actually thinks it's starving! So, it holds onto the little colories it gets and can convert them to fat, while breaking down your muscle tissue and using it for energy! I see you are already using some websites and tracking what you are doing- that's great! Try going to www.mypyramidtracker.gov. It's the "food pyramid" website. You can type in your age, height, weight, food intake, and physical activities, and it will tell you if you're eating enough, how much vitamins you need, etc., and it's free and easy to use! It does take a little time though, but by using it myself I found out I wasn't losing weight because I was actually eating too little and not balanced enough for the amount of excercise i was doing (about the same amount as you each week.) It sound like you belong to a gym or Kickboxing class. You should discuss your questions with your coach or trainer because they can help you too. Good luck, don't get discouraged. I think you're on the right track!
